In what was the first shock to this season the new entrants Hull City beat the title contenders Arsenal by one goal at the Emirates. Hull City has been in tremendous form right from the start of the season and with this win over Arsenal at the Emirates they have sent an alarm message to the other top four powers in England about their strength. The highlight of the match was the goal scored by the midfielder Geovanni who scored an astonishing wonder kick right from just outside the box which went past Alumina, the Arsenal goal keeper. The mad fans of Hull City were just in joy to see their team in level with Arsenal that too at the Emirates. Later after about 10 minutes they took the lead and they maintained the lead right throughout the match though Arsenal attacked much in the ending minutes of the match. With this win Hull City are in the third position of the table and in the next couple of weeks they are having easy fixtures against struggling Tottenham and fellow new entrants West Bromwhich. They must be having no trouble in winning those matches and will remain in the top four of the table till the end of October. If they continue atleast 75% of their current form in the second half of the season they are sure to be having some European action next season.
It has been over four years and Chelsea have not lost a game at home and this tremendous record at home seems to continue this season too as Manchester United failed to capitalize on their early goal advantage over Chelsea as they could only manage a draw at the Stanford Bridge. They have been unbeaten at home for 83 games and this seems to continue as Manchester United and Arsenal are the only teams threatening the act of spoiling the party. Rafa Benetiz has the worst away record against the Top Four Clubs as he has managed just 2 points against the teams as a whole in the four year period at Liverpool. So Liverpool won’t be much a threat to the Chelsea who are cruising at the top of the table under their new manager Scolari who is yet to lose a match after taking control at the Bridge. The team has developed character under the new manager and it will be difficult not only to beat them at home but at any ground. They were the running champions last season both in the league and also in the European championship and hence they have a good chance of beating the coveted European title for the first time in the history of the club this time if the current form seems to continue and everything goes fine for them.

The race for the title this season has been a three way race between the new rookie Lewis Hamilton, Felippe Massa and Kubica. All the three drivers have not won a title before this and hence this title is going to be a special one for any one of them. He was well set to win the title last season when unexpectedly Raikkonen closed the gap of 18 points in the last three races. The defending champion has no chances of retaining the title as he is out of the race in the fourth position. Hamilton is leading the race now with just a single point separating him and Massa but if Massa continues his good run then it would be difficult for him. Massa won two of the last three races. Massa has won the most number of races this season with five wins where as Hamilton has won four of them.

Not many football fans here would have forgotten the most famous and the most dramatic Champions League final that has taken place ever. Yes you are right am speaking about the 1999 Champions League final and I am much more excited to say about this as it was my favorite team Manchester United that was a part of the match and had the final laugh. It was around 30 years since Manchester United had won the Champions league and the fans were hoping to see their team win the Champions League title and complete the treble as they have already won the Premier League and the F.A.Cup titles. The match did not go as expected as Bayern Munich who were the opponents took the lead and looked like winning the title. Manchester United were pushing hard and it was 90 minutes and the match went into injury time. Now it was time for David Beckham to deliver. Manchester United won a corner and their goalkeeper Schmiedel came up the pitch to provide extra attack and David Beckham delivered a perfect kick and Sheringam scored. Camp Nou was in shock and the grounds went on screaming as Manchester Untied fans were supporting their team more. In the next minute Manchester United won another corner and David Beckham delivered another superb kick and it was Solsjeaer who scored the goal this time and the players couldn’t believe they have done it. At 89 minutes they were down by a goal but at the end of the 90 minutes they have won the match. A couple of Bayern Munich players started crying on the field and were very much dejected. The most dramatic Champions League final ended in the right way and Manchester Untied completed the treble becoming the only English team till now to have accomplished it.
