Chelsea owner has stated their striker Drogba is going no where and there will no addition of players to the squad in the winter transfer window this season. Drogba who was instrumental in helping Chelsea win the title a couple of years ago and the main player in the team last season was speculated to leave the club and join Inter Milan in the start of the season but the player did not go. He missed most of the current season due to an injury and with the substitute striker Anelka in great form and being the leading goal scorer in the league so far Drogba could not find a place in the team. This raised the speculation once again that Drobga might leave the club as he is not getting regular match practice here. But the Chelsea owner today stated that the player is not leave the club and there will also be no further addition to the team’s strength as he is not having any players in mind to buy in the transfer window that is to open in the next couple of weeks.

Arsenal beat Chelsea at Bridge and has removed them from the top of the table. Liverpool now lead the table for a short period of time and have to win their match against West Ham tonight. Chelsea were well posed to win the game and were in complete control of the most part of the game before a bad decision from the referee changed the course of the game. It was the linesman’s bad decision that allowed a Van Persie offside goal and in quick succession of five minutes he netted another one to make clear that they were in the lead and this time he made no mistake. With this win Arsenal moves up in the table and are behind Manchester United now in the fourth position. The players are delighted with the result and so is the manager of the team. Scolari said that he was much disappointed with the decision of the referee and he felt that it was his team that should have won the match. Chelsea who were undefeated in their home for more than four years have now been beaten thrice at home in a span of two months and this is not a good sign for a team that is looking to win the Premier League title.

It was a slaggy EPL this weekend as the top teams recieved a setback in their race and it didn’t matter much in the title race as all the teams drew except for Arsenal who lost their match against Manchester City. It was splendid display from Manchester City who dominated the Gunners who were setback already by the crisis that is taking place in their team due to the public meet given by their ex-captain Gallas. Manchester City beat them by 3 goals to nil in which Robinho and Ireland performed well and scored a goal each. The difference would have been greater had Robinho’s another goal on a back heel been allowed and they also missed out a lot of opportunities that must have been converted. Liverpool also drew their game against Fulham. This weekend witnessed matches for the top teams against the teams that are in form in the recent month in England. Chelsea were held at home to a 0-0 draw by Newcastle United while the double champions Manchester United have to be contented with a draw against Aston Vila at Villa Park. Had Manchester United won the match they could have reduced the lead at the top of the table to well a 3 point and have some chance of winning the title in th second half of the league. As of now it is most posed that Chelsea are the hot favourites for the title. But anything  is prone to happen in the game of sport so wait and watch out for the action and drama that is to take place.

Chelsea has been frustated by Newcastle United as they lost points against them this week but they continued to stay on top of the table in level with Liverpool. Anelka who has been in good scoring form and is the leading scorer in the league so far has failed this time and let his team down as they lost points and failed to take advantage since all the other teams in the league too dropped points this week. Liverpool and Manchester United too drew their matches and Arsenal lost their match. Chelsea’s best chance of the opening period fell to Ashley Cole just after the half-hour mark. Bosingwa was the architect, curling a fine ball in from the right to find the England full-back unmarked at the far post. Cole could only head the ball back across goal, however, and once again Newcastle survived. Newcastle has been in good form in the past few weeks and their show against Chelsea proved their form. They showed a splendid display and frustated Chelsea fans and players in most situations though Chelsea were in full attack for most of the game but could not convert even one goal in the back of the net.

Anelka scored yet another brace in the match against West Brom to ensure that Chelsea stayed on top of the table on goal difference. Chelsea have been in great form this season neglecting their early departure from the Carling Cup last week when they were beat by Burnley at the Bridge on penalties. This match provided some breakthrough for the title leaders and sent a clear message to the contenders that they are not going to leave the race easy. Anelka who missed the famous penalty in the Champions League final last season against Manchester United has been in tremendous form this season making up the absence of the injured Drogba. He has scored 12 goals in the season so far and is the leading scorer in England as of now. It was the Portugal defender Boswinga who openened the scoring for Chelsea witha superb goal with his left foot and then Anelka made no mistake in finishing two brilliant passes from the team mate and Scolari would be way disappointed with the scoreline as their players had a hell lot of chances than this to demolish West Brom. Anelka recieved the golden boot for becoming the first player to score ten goals this season and if he continues this form no one can stop Chelsea from lifting the trophy for the first time in three years.

Chelsea forward Didier Drogba may be handed a three match ban following his misconduct in the Carling Cup match against Burnley. Chelsea were knocked out of the competition by the second division team Burnley in penalties. Drogba provided the lead for Chelsea and as he was celebrating the goal a coin was thrown at the player by the opposition fans and this made the player angry and the player showed the fans his middle finger. This is against the rules and regulation of the football federation and Drogba is facing suspension for his misconduct. The League toppers suffered a shocking defeat and were eliminated from the Carling Cup despite the fact that they fielded a full strength team that included Drogba, Deco, Lampard and a couple of other first team starters. The incident has raised the emotions of the fans and they are questioning for disciplinary action against the player. A similar incident took place seven years ago at the home of Arsenal when Carragher was the player to react and he was handed a three match suspension then and PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor expects the same action to be levelled against Drogba.

Liverpool and Chelsea were once again eliminated from the Carling Cup and this time it is too early for them. Liverpool suffered yet another defeat at the hands of Tottenham and this time it was by a bigger margin than the first one. Tottenham is the only team to defeat Liverpool this season. The Russian sensation Pavyluchenko who scored in the first encounter scored a brace here and boosted the chances of Tottenham retaining the trophy which they had won last year. Chelsea were once again eliminated by Barnsley who did the same thing to Chelsea last year too. The one factor that Chelsea can be proud of is that their star player Drogba was back to scoring terms. Tottenham almost sealed the match in the first half as they were up by three goals at the end of the first half and Liverpool offered some fight but all went in vain. Pavyluchenko and Campell scored a brace each for Tottenham while Playssis and Hyppia scored for the visitors. In the other match Chelsea were in the lead for most part of the match and Akinbyi scored in the second half to level the scored and as the score was the same at the end of the regular time, the match went into extra time. Neither of the teams could break the dead lock and hence it was penalties to decide the match. Burnley edged Chelsea on penalties with a score of 5-4. So of the top four two teams have been eliminated from Carling Cup and this opens up the title race more open than it was before.
