Brazil were back in form as they thrashed Portugal by six goals to two in the International Friendly that took place in Brazil yesterday. This was the first win for Brazil in front of their home fans for more than a year. Interestingly it has taken almost a year for Brazil to score a goal at home. The last three matches they played were a draw and this included a match against Argentina, Columbia and Paraguay. The match did not start well for the Americans as they were down by a goal in the fourth minute of the game. But they managed to comeback quick within four minutes of scoring by Portugal. The match was going on normally untill Brazil turned energetic and scored four goals in a gap of twenty minutes in the second half to put the match beyond all doubts and after that Portugal could do nothing to make things right. Portugal were playing their full strength and the team included the player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo, Deco, Nani, Bosingwa and Maniche who have all been cruising in their respective clubs this season but failed to work out as a collective unit. Luis Fabiano scored his first hat-trick for Brazil as they were without Ronaldinho in the match. This win has boosted the confidence of the players much and with the world cup qualifications coming up in short period of time this must prove to be doing good for Brazil.
